Illumination in my paintings is meant to spark joy in the familiar. To show promise in a sunrise, gratitude for a setting sun, serenity at light streaming into a forest. It draws our gaze to see life pulsing behind the glint of an eye. Sunlight through translucent petals, a lemon slice, glass, transcends the ordinary to extraordinary. Elegant simplicity is found in shadows. A lifetime of trials has helped me in my quest, using oils, brushes, and palette knives, to capture the poetry and comfort in light.
